I’m Steve, a Production Consultant at Circana. My background brings together hands-on data engineering, technical leadership and a creative streak.
I like understanding
how things fit together.
I’ve worked with EPOS data delivery since 2001. My career began at PS&A, working with varied data sources and FMCG reporting, and grew through production management, SQL database work and technical leadership to my current role at Circana. More than 25 years on, I still enjoy getting into the detail of a problem.
Much of my work happens in the technical detail: designing SQL processing, developing SSIS workflows, tuning performance, investigating data and creating the applications around those systems. I enjoy understanding the individual pieces and taking responsibility for how they work together.
Leading a small technical team runs alongside that engineering work. I set direction, develop the team and take responsibility for the operating environment while continuing to build and investigate the systems myself.
The curiosity carries
into other things.
Outside the day job, that can mean a cinematic shot, a piece of music, or the colour and atmosphere of an edit. I’ve worked on paid commercial event films and release music as RDubz. My track “Crazy”, with my sister Leanne Louise, appeared on the Warner Music compilation Garage Kiss in 2011.
I also co-run PropNutz with a friend: an FPV community livestream and website. It’s something I do for the love of the hobby and the people around it.
I enjoy the connection between technical understanding and creative expression. Both ask you to pay attention, make decisions, and keep working until the pieces belong together.

AI has become part of that curiosity. I use it to help create Python scripts, Flask tools and reporting workflows, drawing on my own experience of data and operational problems to shape what gets built.
SQL Server, SSIS, data engineering and technical leadership are my foundation. I use Python and VBScript regularly for scripting and automation, and have debugged Perl scripts within the environment I maintain. My Python and Flask development is AI-assisted, with my own experience shaping the problem, the workflow and what the tool needs to do.
